龍生九子

(跟小朋友講龍生九子的故事.)

阿爸: 第五子叫饕餮 他是個老饕.
小朋友一: 什麼是老饕?
阿爸: 老饕要吃很多好康的.
小朋友甲: 我要像饕餮, 作老饕.

Dragon's nine kids

(Telling the stories of the dragon's nine kids and how each of the dragonlets has a special talent.)

Dad: The fifth kid is called TaoTie (饕餮) and is the gourmand of the family.
B: What is a gourmand?
Dad: Gourmand eats a lot and usually eats well.
J: I want to be a gourmand, like TaoTie.

穿鞋

夫人: 小朋友甲, 為什麼一隻腳是穿小朋友一的鞋子?
小朋友甲: 不知道 (跑去玩).
夫人: (漸漸小聲) 而且是右腳鞋穿到左....

Shoes

Boss: J, why are you wearing one of B's shoe and one of yours?
J: I don't know (and runs away)
Boss: (In diminishing voice) And, you are wearing the left shoe on your right....

幹新活兒

(小朋友甲在拔洗衣籃裡的東西.)

阿爸: 你在作什麼?
小朋友甲: 釣魚.

A new vocation

(J is pulling things out of the laundry hamper.)

Dad: what are you doing?
J: Fishing.

畫的很好

小朋友一: 看!
夫人: 畫的很好! 這是什麼?
小朋友一: 樹.
夫人: 我很喜歡! 要不要再畫一次? 這次不要畫桌上, 畫紙上.

Nice drawing

J: Look!
Boss: That is a nice drawing! What is it?
J: Tree.
Boss: I like it! Maybe you can do it again on the paper (not the table) this time?

螳螂捕蟬

小朋友一 + 小朋友甲: 我們是厲害的軍人!
阿爸: 那我是將軍, 軍人要聽我的.
夫人: 那我是軍閥, 大家都要聽我的.

Bellicose conversation

J + B: We are fierce soldiers!
Dad: I am a general, soldiers have to listen to me.
Boss: I am a warlord, everyone listens to me.

不乖老虎

阿爸: (唱) 兩隻老虎, 兩隻老虎. 跑得快, 跑得快.
小朋友一: (唱) 一隻沒有洗澡!
小朋友甲: (唱) 一隻沒有刷牙!
夫人: (唱) 真不乖!真不乖!

鬥牛

(看著鬥牛的照片聊天.)

小朋友甲: 如果是三隻牛對一個人呢?
阿爸: 先逃再說嘍.

Bull Fighting

(Looking at and talking about a bull fighting picture.)

B: What happens when there are three bulls and one matador?
Dad: You run to the nearest exit as fast as you can.

Things that Swim

J observes B on the toilet.

J: (with gravitas) Poop-poop is swimming in the water.

游泳

小朋友甲仔細觀察小朋友一如廁.

小朋友甲: (事後, 慎重指出) 撲撲在游泳.

咳! 咳! 鼻涕

小朋友甲: 咳! 咳! 我好像有鼻涕.
小朋友一: 我要吃藥!
阿爸: 搶著生病吃藥? 有什麼好處?
夫人: 小朋友想吃蜂蜜.

(剛剛跟小朋友一 + 小朋友甲提到蜂蜜可幫助減輕咳嗽, 流鼻涕.)

Cough Cough Sniff Sniff

B: Cough! Cough! Sniff, sniff. I think I have a running nose.
J: I want cold medicine!
Dad: Why would somebody ask for medicine?
Boss: They just want to have honey.

Just told J + B that honey can help with coughing and running nose.

Skype 姑姑

夫人: 書不是剛買的嗎? 已經破啦.
小朋友一: 二姑姑弄得.
阿爸: 可是你只有在 Skype 上看到姑姑啊.

Skyped

Boss: Didn't we just buy this book yesterday? It is ripped already.
J: Oh, Auntie did it.
Dad: But she was on Skype only.

Night Night Jukebox

We usually sing a few songs before putting J + B to bed.
Walked by their room one night.

J: Star song!
B: (sing) Twinkle, twinkle, little star...
J: Bird song!
B: (sing) Sing a song of sixpence, a pocket full of rye. Four and twenty blackbirds, baked in a pie...

Walked by again after 5 minutes, all is quiet.

卡拉OK夜

睡覺前會跟小朋友唱個歌.
某夜, 走過小朋友房間.

小朋友甲: 星星!
小朋友一: (唱) 一閃, 一閃, 亮晶晶...
小朋友甲: 白狼絲!
小朋友一: (唱, 台) 白鴒鷥, 車畚箕, 車告溪仔漧...

五分鐘後, 再走過小朋友房間, 睡了.

拔刺

小朋友甲: 鬍鬚!
小朋友一: 刺刺!
阿爸: 奧! 不可以拔!

No Pulling!

B: Stubble!
J: Prickly!
Dad: Ouch! No pulling!

光屁屁

夫人: 小朋友一, 不要躲沙發後面. 你是光屁屁.
小朋友一: 我沒有光屁屁.
夫人: 那你穿什麼?
小朋友一: 我穿沙發.

I am Not Naked

Boss: J, don't hide behind the sofa. You are naked.
J: No, I am not.
Boss: What are you wearing then?
J: I am wearing the sofa.

Rabbit! Rabbit! - Happy Year of Ribbits!

J: (Merrily) Rabbit! Rabbit!
Boss: What kind of bunny are you?
J: I am "Froggy".
Boss: Oh, you mean "ribbit!" "ribbit!".
J: (Merrily) Rabbit! Rabbit!
